This beloved korean drama has many fans because of the beautiful story and pure acting. Story about merchants and being one. Goong Bok is a poor child and a slave from Shilla. His parents die. He rises up with every step he takes. He becomes an invincible merchant and dares competing Madam Jami, a cruel lady and one of the best merchants that ever existed (she became a big merchant only because she cheated). She had big trades with China, but she always wanted to become stronger than Goong Bok who soon becomes Jang Bogo and the army chief. Goong Bok's first fighting trainer was a pirate called Yeom Jang (as well as known as Yum Moon) which he fights later, when being truly in love with a woman. I think Yum Moon should've won the lady's heart because Jang Bogo married another woman and had a child with her, but Yum Moon didn't, and saved that lady so many times and proved his loyality and love to her, but she still cared about Jang Bogo! i have never cry for a drama in my life before i watched this drama. watch it on a tv series and i have to wait every week for the whole 50 something eps. the character grew on me, watched them grow up, watch them struggle and the mean writer have to kill them all at the end? tears*** cant type anymore
